About Todd
Author, financial educator, and HUD‑certified housing counselor, Todd R. Christensen, AFC®, MIM, MA, is the Founder and Chief Content Creator at HECMCoach.com, an organization devoted to promoting the responsible use of reverse mortgages so seniors can live their best lives in homes that fit their lifestyles. Todd is the author of Reverse Mortgage Myths Busted (2025), Everyday Money for Everyday People (2014), Planning for Awesome (2018), Leading the Awesome (2020), and 50+ on FIRE (2021), and the creator of the award‑winning “My Life, My Choices” suite of online financial courses. He develops educational programs and resources that clarify when and how reverse mortgages can strengthen the financial security of senior homeowners.
A HUD‑certified reverse mortgage counselor and Accredited Financial Counselor®, Todd has facilitated thousands of workshops and counseling sessions for tens of thousands of individuals and couples on effective money management, including the use of reverse mortgages in retirement planning. Through HECMCoach.com, he publishes tools, courses, and guides on HECM and proprietary reverse mortgages, using reverse mortgages to buy a “forever home,” and selecting appropriate products that align with a client’s goals and lifestyle. Todd has served on the board of the Association for Financial Counseling & Planning Education, as president of the Idaho Financial Literacy Coalition, on program‑coordinating committees for housing authorities nationwide, and on housing coalitions from Florida to Washington state.
Todd and his wife, Wendy, have four adult children and a growing number of grandchildren. They enjoy trips to the Oregon coast, family movie nights with caramel popcorn and chocolate, and singing or accompanying music in their church congregation.
